The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is a premier autonomous statutory body functioning under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. Established by an Act of Parliament in December 1985, the Authority officially commenced operation on 13th February 1986, superseding the erstwhile Processed Food Export Promotion Council (PFEPC).
